When I first saw this quilt, I immediately fell in love. My search for that special traditional quilt to make and cherish is over. I am a big fan of any hand sewing but in particular Broderie Perse and Applique. There’s some sort of yesteryear vibe I feel about it. Ladies were using these techniques one way or another for hundred of years stitching in candle light, gathering in sewing groups and sharing their stories and skills with each other.
Today we have wonderful sewing groups all over the world that still provide joy and companionship through sewing. I love this about the creative world. Even during a world pandemic, we manage to stay connected.So, without further ado, we are thrilled to introduce the‘Windermere Quilt’by Di Ford-HallDi was part of a talented and close sewing group ‘The Secret Sewing Sisters’.
They met, shared and sewed together. Upon Di’s passing, her group and Di’s family came together to publish a special tribute book to Di and her creative endeavours. Many of you knew or will have known of Di and her achievements which were well known across the globe in the patchwork community. The book is a beautiful tribute to Di and also includes the beautiful Windermere Quilt pattern.
